Utility Billing Update

Thanks for your patience over the last 45 days as the City works to restore our computer network while preventing the reintroduction of hidden viruses, and increasing our defenses against future cyberattacks. This message is to make sure our residents know progress is being made.

To be completely transparent, we do not have an exact date of when everything will be “back to normal” but great strides have been made. Cyber Incident Recovery is a five-stage process. The City of Granbury is in Stage Five.

1) Incident response planning begins,

2) Threats, attacks, and malicious actors are identified,

3) Threat containment and control,

4) Cyberattacks and threats are eradicated, and,

5) The recovery phase of incident response.

Our hope is that customers begin to feel the process returning to normal as we enter the month of October.  Now that some utility billing functions have been moved safely “into the cloud,” there’s a small army of trained staff who are carefully inputting the data from thousands of manual financial transactions that have occurred since July 31. The City wants to make sure that the next utility bill you receive reflects the payments you have made and correctly bills you for the services rendered.

Utility bills will go out as soon as possible, the due dates will be extended appropriately, and there will be no late fees.

Customers are asked to make a payment now based on their July bill. This helps assist with household budgeting and avoids large balances due when bills are produced. Payments can be made by check, using the City Hall green drive-through drop box at 116 W Bridge Street, Granbury, TX 76048. Or in person by cash or check inside City Hall, 116 W Bridge Street, Granbury, TX 76048. Or mail a check to: Utility Billing Payment, 116 W Bridge Street, Granbury, TX 76048

The City is temporarily not accepting credit card payments for utility bills.  We realize this is an inconvenience to many people. We will resume credit card transactions as soon as possible.

If you are on Self-Set-Up Credit Card Draft, please watch your account for missed payments. Self-Set-Up Credit Card Draft will not be processed during the network outage and will not draft missed payments when the network is restored.

If you are on Bank Auto-Draft, you may want to make a payment now by check or cash. Otherwise, the entire balance due will be drafted when the network is restored.

We will continue to update you periodically to reduce any unwelcomed surprises. We appreciate your understanding.
