UPDATE:

Fire on the Square

Firefighters from the Granbury Volunteer Fire Department and multiple other departments around Hood County were called to the historic Nutt Building on the Square just after 1 a.m. on Thursday (March 2). The City of Granbury Fire Marshal says the fire was contained to the second floor, but the whole building has smoke and water damage. Fire fighters and investigators are still on location.

Please avoid the area. Several streets are closed, including Crockett (from Pearl to the First National Bank-Granbury) and Bridge Street (between Crockett and Houston streets).  Parking around the Courthouse is limited.

The J.F. and J Nutt Building was built in 1893. About 1919, the Nutt Hotel moved in. The building has been occupied by three generations of the Nutt family. It became a recorded Texas Historical Landmark in 1970.
