Mayor Jim Jarratt led the City Council, residents, and staff in thanking Lieutenant Colonel Roger McGrath (retired) for his generous donation of model airplanes on display at the Granbury Airport.
McGrath’s distinguished Air Force career began in 1970. He has served as a Pilot, Operations Officer, Staff Officer and Fighter Executive. At the University Squadron Officer School, he went from Honor Student to Lecturer, and ultimately became Chief of Administration. He has been awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal and the Defense Meritorious Service Medal.
After leaving the Air Force and now as a Granbury resident, he has stayed connected with aviation by curating an extensive collection of more than 125 model aircraft. Earlier this year he donated it for display at the Granbury Airport.
“Tonight, we salute Lieutenant Colonel Roger McGrath’s esteemed Air Force service and officially recognize his generous donation to the City of Granbury,” Mayor Jarratt said during the December 7 Council meeting.
