[ARCHIVED] Winter Weather Update: Saturday 7 a.m.

UPDATED FORECAST at 7 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 24). 

Total sleet and snow accumulations between 1 and 4 inches with up to around 5 inches near the Red River. Ice accumulations between one quarter and one half of an inch.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect in Granbury until noon Sunday (Jan. 25).

Power outages are possible and some may be widespread or long-lasting. City of Granbury customers: for emergencies, such as power outage or water leak call 817-588-0488.

To help keep residents safe, City of Granbury crews are treating roadways and surfaces in critical areas, including:

  • Lake Granbury Medical Center Emergency Room
  • Granbury Police Department
  • Granbury Volunteer Fire Department stations
  • Texas EMS Ambulance headquarters

 These efforts help ensure first responders and medical services can continue operating safely during hazardous conditions.

TxDOT crews are also treating roads they maintain throughout the area. Drivers should remain cautious, especially on bridges and overpasses, and slow down when encountering treatment vehicles.

Saturday and Sunday: the Visit Granbury’s Visitor Center and the Visit Granbury Trolley Service will be closed. Other City departments will operate on a normal weekend schedule.

Residents are encouraged to limit travel if possible, use caution on roads and walkways, and continue monitoring City updates as weather conditions change.

As freezing temperatures move into our area, we want to remind everyone that 911 is for emergencies only. When severe weather hits, the call volume increases - everything from weather related emergencies to wrecks, fires, and medical emergencies. Keeping 911 lines open and available helps ensure first responders can reach those in immediate danger as quickly as possible.
