[ARCHIVED] Atmos Energy Leak Testing

Starting Monday, January 13, Atmos Energy crews and contractors will conduct safety surveys of their natural gas distribution system in Granbury. These surveys will take place nightly between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. and are expected to last three nights.

The crews will use mobile leak detection units designed to measure and map methane levels in the area. These units are white SUVs equipped with flashing lights and marked with the Atmos Energy logo or the words “Utility Contractor.” You may notice these vehicles driving slowly through neighborhoods at night.

If a natural gas leak is detected, the crew will investigate and classify the leak:

Grade 1 (hazardous): Immediate action will be taken to eliminate the hazard.

Grades 2 and 3: These will be monitored and scheduled for repair according to state and federal guidelines.
