The primary purpose of a police ride-along is to provide an opportunity for the community to see firsthand the day-to-day workings of law enforcement in Granbury. The ride-along guest receives important insight into what it means to be a police officer. Criminal justice students and people interested in a career in law enforcement have found the program particularly useful.
The ride along program fosters a better understanding of the challenges, hazards, and rewards of the police officer’s role in the community. The program is intended to be an educational tool for participants and is designed to acquaint citizens with the complexities of police work. View the eligibility requirements
. Applications may be picked up at the Granbury Police Department Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The goals of the ride-along program are to:
- Provide an opportunity for citizens to get to know their police officers
- Provide citizens interested in a career in law enforcement an opportunity to examine the job
- Educate the community about the responsibilities of police officers
- Provide an opportunity for police officers to get to know their community
Those interested in participating in the program are required to complete an initial application form used to conduct a background investigation to determine your qualifications. All participants are required to complete the Departments Release Form which must be notarized prior to the ride-along. The applications and department release can be picked up Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at:
