[ARCHIVED] Mayor, Council Recognize April as Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month with Proclamation

3-16-2021 Procurement Month

Granbury Mayor Nin Hulett and the City Council decreed via proclamation that April 2021 is to be recognized as “Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month” in the City.

“Our society has a responsibility to protect our children and help them thrive in a safe environment, as every child is entitled to be loved, cared for, feel secure and be free from verbal, sexual, emotional, and physical abuse and neglect,” said Mayor Hulett. “Children are the embodiment of dreams and aspirations of the future and deserve to grow and develop in nurturing environments.”

The City’s Proclamation read, “throughout the community, there are dedicated individuals and organizations such as Mission Granbury, CASA of Hood and Somervell Counties, Paluxy River Children’s Advocacy Center, Kids’ Armor of Hope, Hood County Crimes Against Children Task Force, Hood County Sheriff’s Department, and the Granbury Police Department, who work daily to counter the problem of child maltreatment and help parents obtain the assistance they need. Effective child abuse prevention programs succeed because of partnerships among families, social service agencies, schools, religious and civic organizations, law enforcement agencies, and the business community.”
