The City of Granbury has hired JoAnne Milhollin Kamman as the new City Engineer for the Public Works Department. Kamman has 35 years of professional experience in engineering and construction management.
Professionally, she worked 27 years for the City of Houston Public Works Department, performing various functions of engineering and construction management for the city’s Capital Improvement Program. Kamman also served as the Engineering Manager for Storm Water Maintenance Section, and she created and managed the Interagency Group in the Public Works Department which provided an interface between various agencies (TxDOT, Metropolitan Transit Authority, Harris County, etc) and the City of Houston. After leaving Houston, she worked for two years at the City of Fort Worth as the Program Manager of the City’s Major Thoroughfare and Arterial Program.
“I am so excited to be in Granbury and be a part of this vibrant and expanding community. I look forward to being able to contribute to the continued development of the area,” she said about her hiring.
The City Engineer plays a key role in the Public Works Department. The duties involve all aspects of engineering including current and long-range planning, transportation planning, historic preservation, and GIS development.
Kamman was born in Dublin, Texas and was raised in Fort Worth, Texas. Coming from a long line of Aggies, Kamman herself graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. After graduating college, Kamman moved to Houston, Texas where she started a family, officially becoming a “soccer/football/choir mom” to her five children.
Upon her retirement from the City of Houston, Kamman and her husband wanted to come back to their family in the Granbury area. Together, they enjoy “jeeping,” fishing, and a good barbecue.
