The Granbury City Council is asking the Texas Transportation Commission take action to include the U.S. 377 Roadway Expansion Project in Granbury in the 2020 Unified Transportation Plan and encourage the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to take action to complete the project.
The 2020 Unified Transportation Plan will decide TxDOT’s major projects for the next 10 years, and if a project is not included it is unlikely to obtain the funding needed from TxDOT. The Unified Transportation Plan from 2016 had over $20 million in funding for U.S. 377 through Hood County that was supposed to begin construction in 2017, but this never happened. Now, the project is not listed in the proposed 2020 Unified Transportation Plan at all.
Resolution No. 19-21, unanimously approved by the City Council at the August 6 meeting, states that the City supports any and all actions taken by the Texas Transportation Commission to complete the design, land acquisition and ultimate construction activities for the expansion of U.S. 377 from Texas State Highway 167 (SH 167) to east of Texas State Highway 144 (SH 144) as it will provide for added safety and needed aid in relieving congestion to the City of Granbury and surrounding areas.
