The Granbury City Council named Acton Middle School Student Council President Elizabeth (Liz) Heil an Honorary Councilmember at the May 21, 2019 City Council Meeting in recognition of her academic excellence, leadership, and representation of the qualities of an excellent councilmember.
Liz is 13 years old and serves as the Student Council President at AMS. She is also a member of National Junior Honor Society and the track and cross country teams. In addition to that, she was handpicked to participate in Advanced Theatre and has portrayed characters such as Tiger Lily in Peter Pan Jr, and the lead character, Lizzy Landry, in Lafayette No.1, Acton’s UIL One Act Play competition production. The show won first place, and Liz was recognized as honorable mention for Best Actress. She also recently wrote her own script for a stage production called Escape and entered it into a competition at her school called Script Fest. She not only won Script Fest, but she now has had the opportunity to hold her own auditions for her show, choose her own cast and is the director. She is also highly involved in theater at the Granbury Opera House and has been in shows such as Shrek: The Musical, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and A Christmas Carol. Beginning in the fall, Liz will also be cheering on the sidelines for GHS football games as a member of the JV cheer squad.
The Granbury City Council will continue to recognize exceptional students involved in student council from different schools in the Granbury Independent School District at future City Council meetings.
