[ARCHIVED] City Temporarily Closes City Beach Park

beach closed

7/7/18 - City Beach Park has been reopened. Visit www.granbury.org/beach for more information.

Granbury, Texas – We at the City of Granbury would like to extend our deepest sympathies and offer our prayers for the family and friends of the two men who have drowned in Lake Granbury in recent weeks: David Anthony Chavez of Cleburne, Texas and Michar Deon Harrison Jr. of Fort Worth, Texas.

In light of these tragic events, the City has temporarily closed City Beach Park (505 E. Pearl St.). During the park’s closure, the City is going to be proactive in implementing additional safety measures for the welfare and benefit of our citizens and guests. These measures will include:

  • installation of perimeter buoy markers at depths of 5.5 to 6 feet,
  • development of a crowd capacity policy,
  • engagement with a security company to help enforce the existing City Beach Park safety rules, and
  • collaboration with the Brazos River Authority (BRA) and state and local fire and law enforcement agencies.

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your thoughtfulness and patience.

For updates on when City Beach Park will reopen, please look to the City's Facebook, Twitter, and www.granbury.org/beach
