Following an in-depth recruitment and selection process to find a new Operations Manager for the Granbury Resort Conference Center (GRCC), Kyle Smith will report for duty in the position on Monday, November 27, 2017.
Mr. Smith has extensive experience in the event industry that he will bring with him to his new job in Granbury. His most recent position was four years as the Public Events Coordinator for the City of Fort Worth’s Fort Worth Convention Center. Prior to that, he was a Group Sales Lead for nine years at the well-known country music venue, Billy Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth, and Special Projects Manager for the Fort Worth Cats Baseball Club for three years.
The Granbury Resort Conference Center is one of the City’s divisions overseen by Assistant City Manager Michael Ross. “The City of Granbury is excited to welcome Kyle Smith to the conference center team. His extensive background with event management and coordination is a tremendous benefit to the City,” he said, “The expertise and experience he will bring to Granbury will be crucial as the City works to attract new meetings, conferences, and events to the GRCC, and ensure that all who use the center are provided excellent service.”
Mr. Smith has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wyoming, and has taken master’s courses in social media marketing and web development. He has certifications in trained crowd management, hazard communications, active shooter awareness, and security awareness training, among others.

Outside of professional duties, Mr. Smith also serves the community. He was the President of Fort Worth Connections, a Fort Worth Convention & Visitors Bureau-sponsored marketing group, for three years, and the City of Fort Worth Coordinator for United Way for two years. Mr. Smith is also involved with several local charities that focus on animals.
Joining the City of Granbury family with Mr. Smith is his wife, Lisa, two daughters, Kaitlyn and CyAnn, and their four rescue dogs, Mitch, Mateo, Mellie, and Mac.
Recruitment for a new Operations Manager for the Conference Center began in May of 2017 following the departure of the previous manager who had held the position.
