[ARCHIVED] Granbury Police Department Investigating Death at Lake Granbury

The Granbury Police Department is investigating a death at Lake Granbury, with the assistance of the Brazos River Authority.

The Brazos River Authority received a call at 8:12 a.m. on August 12. Ranger Randy Johnston responded to a call three docks from the HWY 51 bridge at Ada Ct. A minor at the residence had spotted what was thought to be a body in the water near the dock.

9-1-1 was called, and the body of a white male was retrieved from Lake Granbury at 9:46 a.m. Justice of the Peace Danny Tuggle pronounced the man deceased at the scene.

The deceased has been identified as 41-year-old John Kenneth Woolsey of Granbury. Next of kin have been notified. Cause of death will be determined by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner.

Granbury Police Department’s investigation is ongoing. There is no apparent evidence of foul play.
