The City of Granbury has received the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its budget for the 2015-16 fiscal year.
Award recipients have pioneered efforts to improve the quality of budgeting and provide an excellent example for other governments throughout North America. The City of Granbury was one of only 1,565 recipients to receive this award.
For the City to receive the budget award, it had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity's budget serves as:
• a policy document
• a financial plan
• an operations guide
• a communications device
This award was not only presented to the City, but also recognized the individuals who were primarily responsible for the achievement. Those individuals are City Manager Chris Coffman, Director of Finance Eva Gregory, and Financial Analyst Elizabeth Bailey.
The City’s Finance Department spent countless hours working on the budget that received this award. Gregory, who led the department in its efforts, said, “While it is a great honor to receive this national award, I would like to add that without the continuous support and commitment of our amazing finance team this award would not be possible. I especially would like to recognize Elizabeth Bailey, Financial Analyst, who took our budget book to the next level. She has improved the color charts, pictures, and other graphic presentations to enhance the readability and the visual impact of the document.”
