Construction on Phase 2 of the Granbury Town Square Streetscape, Pavement, Drainage & Pavement Marking Improvements will begin early next week. Phase 1 construction is being wrapped up, and the area is being cleaned.
When Phase 2 begins, the E. Bridge St. and N. Houston St. intersection will reopen, and the Crockett St. and E. Bridge St. intersection will be closed. Crockett St. (to the E. Pearl St. intersection) and E. Bridge St. (to the N. Houston St. intersection) will be closed to vehicle traffic. The east entrance to the Courthouse parking lot (on Crockett St.) will also be closed.
At the beginning of Phase 2, aging water lines under Crockett St. will be replaced. A new 8-inch water main and service lines will be placed. This process also involves pressure tests and disinfection of the lines, which will be done as overnight work.
Phase 2 construction will consist primarily of water line and street work. Existing raised sidewalks in areas that have awnings will not be reconstructed. Special care will be taken to ensure businesses on the square remain accessible throughout the construction project.
Drivers and pedestrians on the square should follow instructions of posted safety and detour signage, and not cross construction barricades.
