[ARCHIVED] New GIS System Provides Easy Access to Information for Citizens, Prospective

The City of Granbury works hard to utilize technology to better serve our citizens and prospective businesses. The latest addition to meet this goal is a new web-based tool, Geographic Information System (GIS). GIS is a popular system used by all levels of government around the country to enhance the management of information.

The new web based GIS tool will allow citizens and municipal workers to search for information based on different categories such as parcel ID, owner name, address, zoning classification, and many more attributes. Users will be able to view maps using different backgrounds or select specific layers such as boundaries, parcel info, zoning info, parks, addresses, etc.

The City of Granbury selected NewEdge Services to work with departments within the City to collect all available data, build the base maps, the layers, and then tie all the data together in the GIS tool. NewEdge is a respected GIS provider in the State of Texas providing services to numerous cities.

The new web-based GIS tool can be accessed by City staff and public alike using the City website at www.granbury.org and selecting “GIS Web Tool” at the middle left of the main page under "Top Pages" or by clicking here. The web tool will work in multiple browsers as well as on mobile devices.
